YOGA WITH CRISTINA 30th AUG

Dear All,

Through our practice today we have experienced the way stress and anxiety can become illusions. Our bodies are stores of such negative energies. Without awareness we accumulate such negative energies from our hectic daily life and the experiences life takes us through. We become internally stress and unhappy because we live in and carry our bodies around.

Today we have experienced and breathed out a release of negative energy and breathed in vitality and love for our bodies and our close surroundings. This feeling of vitality and well being was internalized through a series of twists and inhalations. We have moved further into firefly pose( Tittibhasana) to praise our hands and the beautiful things we can create with them. We have then experienced the crane pose (Bakasana) to honour our feet which walk us wonders throughout the day.

We finished with headstand pose (Salamba Sirsasana)to experience the world upside down and how things can be really worse than what we get to experience everyday.

Be joyous and live in the present, enjoy and appreciate, respect and give out. Be truthful and love with your hearth full.

YOGA WITH CRISTINA ON 26th AUG

8:42 AM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

Dear All,

In the Wednesday's beginner and intermediate classes we will acknowledge the privilege of breathing.

Breathing is the best gift we have received when born yet few of us understand the power of breathing. We seldom even think about breathing. Breathing helps you look great, feel great, relax, enjoy life and live in grace and gratitude.Learning the right way of breathing takes time but it's rewarding. I want to share with you a few breathing techniques taken from Kundalini yoga.

According to Yogi Bhajan, (read about him at http://www.yogatech.com/yogibhajan.html)

Kundalini Yoga is a non-stressful way to promote flexibility, cardiovascular capability, weight and stress management, AND to cultivate energy, serenity, personal power and spiritual awakening. Its dynamic blend of breathing, movement, stretching, meditation, mantras and relaxation will enable you to look great, feel great, relax, enjoy life and live in grace and gratitude.

It works safely on every aspect of your body, mind, emotions and spirit. Kundalini Yoga facilitates the flow of pranic and spiritual (psychic) energy, in particular along the spinal energy channels and through the chakras.

The increase in your energy levels makes you feel better immediately.

However i won't take you through an hour of kundalini. That will be too much even for an advanced. We will take the usual flow of asanas and focus on opening the chest, heart and hips.

See you for practice

Live light

Love profoundly

Cristina

YOGA FOR CHILDREN

4:36 AM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

YOGA FOR CHILDREN with preschool children helps to develop body awareness, language, good listening skills, cooperation and powers of observation. It teaches pre-school children about nature, their environment and inspires their imaginations. It prepares them for breathing techniques used in yoga. They learn by playing, singing, moving and imitating. This is an ideal time for children to begin a yoga practice.

YOGA FOR CHILDREN with school aged children balances quiet and active poses with game playing, singing, storytelling, drawing, simple breath meditations and rest. Children can easily follow the teacher’s instructions by learning the names of different body parts, their locations and function. As children learn the names of the postures and movements they develop a yoga vocabulary. They can use their yoga poses to play games, take on the qualities of different animals or use their imaginations to make up stories about animals on a farm, climbing a mountain or trekking through a jungle. They can each assume the role of leader and teach their classmates a yoga posture or breathing exercise. Their yoga improves very quickly.

We are having YOGA FOR CHILDREN every Sunday from 3pm to 4pm. Call us now for a booking!

YOGA WITH CRISTINA ON THE 19th AUG

2:33 PM Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »

Dear all,

This Wednesday's yoga practice, 19th August, was again one full of vitality and admiration towards our bodies and minds. The aim of the practice was to build strength for us to appreciate the intensity of the movements. It was an intermediate class but I can proudly state that most of the beginner students grasped the concepts of proper alignment, breath awareness and coordination most beautifully. Because beginners took the class we focused rather in the correct alignment and breath rather then on intensity of movements.

The sequence was built to reach a final aim: awareness of the Upward Bow or Wheel Pose (Urdhva Dhanurasana). The students worked with blocks as the knees and feet tend to splay as they lift into this pose, which compresses the lower back. Prior to the final pose, which we must still practice on, we followed a series of preparatory poses such a lounges, Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana ) Bridge Pose (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana), and Hero Pose (Virasana).

Stay light and see you for our next practice.

Namaste
